Every time I read another section of the book I'm reading (CUNT... mentioned in the 'books' section of my profile) I find so many quotes that I feel a need to put up and share. Lets see if I can find a few...
"In ancient writing, the word for 'cunt' was synonymous with 'woman,' though not in the insulting modern sense. An egyptologist was shocked to find the maxims of Ptah-Hotep 'used for 'woman' a term that was more than blunt,' though its indelicacy was not in the eye of the ancient beholder, only in that of the modern scholar."
The section on rape:
"though rape is viewed merely as a crime, it is the fundamental, primal, most destructive way to seize and maintain control in a patriarchal society."
"No matter how strong you are, no matter how safe you are, no matter how lucky or crafty you are, you still might be put in a postion where you could get hurt. That kinda might be depressing to some people, but I think as long as you're aware of that reality, you might actually make it to the moon if you're a rocket scientist. You might survive."
The section Acrimony of Cunts:
"Ignorance is the most valued consciousness in America. It rends deep chasms of total distrust and perpetuates meanspiritedness bar none. Education, therefore, is the panacea for undermining all manifestations of acrimony in our society... Every way we see, hear, feel, tasta, and smell is a self-reflection. Our perception awake and asleep is what we, we, we choose to perceive. The way we react to any stimulus is the way we choose to react."
"women choose to be catty, cruel, prejudiced, competitive, or jealous of each other because we grow up learning that negative behavior towards women is perfectly acceptable, and partly because it is a difficult task to see ourselves in our perceptions. Seeing ourselves requires effort and commitment. This unwillingnewss to see ourselves is greatly exacerbated by the fact that we, quite often, do not see even a remote semblance of ourselves in the images of women commonly found in our society."
"In my country, women don't seem to like each other much at all. Sucky, sucky, sucky vibes."
Now, those are probably not even close to the best quotes that I could have found if I had been marking them off while reading. Instead I just spent 20-odd minutes flipping through and skimming to find what I though were interesting, thoughtful quotes. I neglected to cover a few chapters that I have read, including blood and cunts, reproductive control for cunts, and orgasms for cunts. These all have quite a bit of useful, interesting tid-bits but I need to go get ready for work so you'll just have to find those yourself ;)
hope this sparked your interest. It's worth the read.
