[OOC: Recently, Steve's best friend, Sam Wilson, a.k.a. The Falcon, showed up. *waves to redwings_sam*

Here is their conversation in Sam's intro thread, in which they argue about Steve's surrender/hiding, and Steve catches him up on everything that's been going on lately. (It's all a bit of a shock to poor Sam's system.) Anyway, in case you don't want to ( Read more... )

It was just an experiment to see if we were both remembering the same trivial crap.

That's all.

I don't want to be going insane and you're the person in the best position to tell me.

You're not going insane.

What else are you remembering?

It was just when I was in Sam's office I remembered being there before.

That's the only reason I asked.

Are you sure that's the only reason?

If I say 'yes,' will you believe me?

Tell me what you think the reason is, then. And after that, maybe I'll have a question for you.

I think you're finally starting to realize that that universe was a little more real than you've been claiming.

Okay, fair enough.

My turn.

Why do you think Bucky wasn't around?

I have no idea why you're asking that, but I'll answer, anyway:

Bucky wasn't around because Wanda only changed things from that battle with Kang onward. Everything that happened back in '45, and everything that the Russians did to him, would have still happened. And I... I guess I wasn't in the position to find out about all of that, because circumstances were so different.

I'm asking you because you asked me an intrusive personal question and you agreed I could ask you one back.

I think you're being excessively literal here.

Wanda chose what she was going to change. And it was obviously based on -- what we wanted -- some kind of unconscious principle.

What are you implying?

iron_tony June 25 2007, 22:16:40 UTC
I don't know. Maybe just that something like losing Bucky was so damn important to making you who you are that you didn't even have the heart to change it in your perfect world.

Don't try to tell me you have judgment where he's concerned.

Now if you have any psychological theories regarding my perception of Sam Wilson's office furniture, feel free to reciprocate.

You're wrong.

I didn't have any control over the setup of that world, and if I had, I most certainly would not have let Bucky die.

His absence there was just more evidence that the world wasn't perfect. It was just something that might have been.

My psychological theory is that you're trying to make up things about my psychology to avoid questioning your own.

Yeah, that must be it.

You've got my number, as always, and nothing I say could possibly have any validity.

Are we done?

Why do you always do that?

Specify, please.

I want to make sure I'm answering based on the correct definition of "that."

You make arguments, and I respond to them. Then, instead of arguing back, you shut me down entirely and claim the conversation is over.

If anyone is invalidating the other person's opinions, it's you.
