Addendum to the prior computer issues.
Google is still screwed up. (This despite a friend somehow being able to Google in Firefox while it was at his house. Yes, as soon as I got it back to my place, the shiny Google page stopped being able to search. Same browser, same everything. Grr.) Page loading remains slow. TV Tropes is still not letting me search.
Apparently the general solution to all my woes is reinstalling Windows; if it comes to that, I'm going to insist on either retaining IE8 or telling Microsoft that IE9 is as ugly as the offspring of a diseased spider-crab and a telephone-pole beetle.
