No day but today...

Boy am I tired! But I suppose it's a good tired. I've had a couple of crazy weeks. Finally shook off the respiratory infection, just in time for allergies to hit. But they're not NEARLY as bad. And a lot of why I'm tired is because, on top of everything else I've been traveling a lot. It was Vegas last week. Once upon a time, there were three lovely, strong ladies who decided to visit Ninevah (a.k.a Sin City). This is their story...

Last Friday I hopped a plane for LA, where I met up with Leslie and Aubree, and the three of us sojourners hit the desert road for Las Vegas. Much silliness and hilarity ensued. We decided Excalibur looked like the city of Dulac from Shrek. We found our hotel (Stardust) and got checked in, then got all fancied up to go out. After a gourmet dinner of take-out chinese and Chipotle, the three fair maidens walked along a long and crowded street until they spied the Eiffel Tower glowing against the dark sky. Intrigued, the ladies decided to brave the ridiculously priced menu of this most well-known (fake) monument. And everyone thought that Jessica's drink was too sweet (chocolate liquer, vanilla vodka, banana liquer, kahlua), but she loved it, for the record. From their window at the restaurant, the ladies could see the glittering fountains of the Bellagio waving in their traditional dance, so the ladies decided to see this sight for themselves. And they did, watching the glowing fountains shoot as Frank Sinatra blared in the background. Jessica felt a little like she was in Ocean's Eleven. Because they were wearing impractically-high and uncomfortable heels, Bree and Jessica walked all the way down the strip back to the hotel barefoot and could barely walk and made strange, painful noises the entire way back. Then they got wine and brie (not to be confused with Bree, who is much less squishy) and soaked their feet in the bathtub for like an hour.

The next day, the maidens went for a feast of a breakfast at the Original Pancake House, and there was much food and a very nice waiter, and some free hash browns. And then they attended services with a wonderfully warm and welcoming Las Vegas congregation, before heading back to their hotel to get ready for their night out on the town. That night our heroines ventured to a jungle--Rumjungle--in Mandalay Bay. In their wise, wily ways, they avoided the $30 cover by going early, and had a variety of lovely drinks, some of which they did not buy. Which was good, because otherwise they would have had to sell their cars and/or siblings to pay for them. Ridiculous. The ladies, who looked particularly enchanting that evening, danced the night away with a posse of guys that ranged from "creepy" to British birthday boys to the really nice, hot charter pilot from Seattle named Mark. They returned to their temporary abode around 3:00 and then awoke at 10:00 for check-out, then a day of sightseeing. They walked up and down the Strip, walked the streets of New York, ate in a Parisian cafe, were fascinated by the canals of Venice, and gazed in awe at the pyramid and sphinx of Egypt. Yes, it was a very cultural experience. At the end of the day, with their minds full and their delicate feet hurting, the ladies mounted their trusty black horse named Protege and drove off into the desert sunset. And ate tacos. And watched Rent when they arrived back in the City of Angels (a.k.a LA). And the three beautiful, wise, talented, kind ladies lived happily until their next crazy weekend. The End.

That about sums it up. Pics will be online sometime soon, life's been pretty crazy. Basically, I answered the 200 emails that had piled up while I was gone, wrote some papers, worked a bunch, and wanted to put myself out of misery in my amazingly boring classes. That's about it. Happy Sabbath!
