Guess what?
A few minutes after I've posted here that my cell phone got stolen, a phone call came through my mom's cell phone. The police informed us that they have caught the suspect, AND recovered my mobile.
I had briefly reunited with my unit a while ago, when we returned to the precinct some time after 3 am, but I had to surrender it again as evidence at the Criminal Investigation Dept. I will be contact-able once again when I reclaim my phone after the inquest later in the afternoon. (Same number! Yay!)
I lost a considerable amount of money despite all the hassle (go figure :P) but I'm thankful that I don't have to go through new phone numbers, spend more money on a new unit, and take that annoying trip to the National Telecommunications Commission. I'm also thankful for keypad lock technology, security & pin codes and my service provider's network security; bibo Marikina Policemen (I saved their names in my phone, I'll post them later); friends with numbers that are easy to memorize and who responded immediately to my cries for help (thanks Istin, Marnie & Luis!); my mom and nephew who accompanied me at the police station and the CID for several hours; the guys at the corner who helped me get to the nearest barangay hall and helped identify one of the suspects; YM peeps who offered me comfort and the use of their mobile phones; those who replied to my email with contact numbers; and most of all, to the One who watches over us.
I should also be thankful that the guy who snatched my phone was incredibly stupid to have been caught in a nearby beer house with my phone, turned off and code-blocked, still in his pocket. (I found his Smart SIM card in my phone but the poor fuckwit couldn't use my unit because of phone and network security codes-- and it's Globe-locked haha!) I was able to recover my own SIM card, which the police found in his change pocket after I asked the culprit about it. (I have the photo of the suspect, too, but it's in my phone's memory card. Ask me later if you wanna see it hehe.)
I know I'm lucky to have recovered my phone at all, but I guess my trip to the police station really paid off. I'm glad that going to the police wasn't a bad idea after all, and that once in my life I have encountered the term "swift justice" and not think it's an oxymoron.
Meanwhile, itutuloy ko ang kaso. I cannot allow this to happen over and over again.
Hay grabe ang gabing ito. Sana hindi mangyari sa inyo 'yung bad part ng kuwento. Ingat everyone! At maraming salamat!

PS: If you have changed your number over the past eight months, please send your contact numbers anyway. (I'm still screening comments.) I still might have your old contact info. Thanks again!
