Also! Thanks to
infinityblade for the paid account. :O brb picking out icons; what of my many fandoms do I not have represented?
Yay icons! Lots of lyrical keywords :O And, to my surprise, a majority (five vs. one to three) Skins. I guess I just have more expressive icons for Skins. That, and I'm lousy at avoiding R2 when I look for Geass icons. Kinda wish I could've gotten at least one Savers in there, but oh well. Maybe when Iona finished my Hare Hare Yukai drawing.
I have gotten my little sister into Fruits Basket. I am brilliant. (Well, technically it's again seeing as she'd seen bits ad pieces of the manga like four years ago, but now she's reading the manga.)
The weekend was the FOCINZ camp at Kaitoke Regional Park, or, as I tend to call it out of laziness, Rivendell. (It, and the Fords of somewhere, were filmed there. If you go to the site, there's a sign proclaiming this fact and not much else.) Number of families was pretty reduced this year: One decided from last year's camp that actually, they don't enjoy camping as much as everyone else does, one had a baby this year, and Nicky couldn't get out of her month-old job. So we only had about, funnily enough, a third of One Third Left.
Weather was crap, so I really wasn't in the mood for the main attraction of the place, the river. So I watched everyone else playing badminton and soccer, played a bit of baseball myself (I loved playing it with the neighborhood kids in the summer of '98), reread Wizard's Holiday by Diane Duane (love this series, but I've never read it in chronological order!), and read up on New Zealand history. Did you know that in the fifties this place (I still don't know if I can say "we were"?) extremely politically progressive but in practice extremely conservative?
And yes, we played lots and lots of Monopoly Here and Now: World. It's gotten so freakin' high tech! Eftpos! We had two epic games, one of which I bought out all the transports and became known as a devil to deal with, and eventually came down to a showdown between me and Kite where I was finally beaten not like Kite how everyone else was, but by a Community Chest tax card, and the other of which Kite and I were out of right away. Brilliant. One of our house rules is that you can only collect rent on your properties if you call it before the next player rolls, so I got very good at snapping "RENT!" the second someone rolled near so much as my color.
