I rolled on up to WGC chamber choir's concert because my dearest not quite cousin Nicky's in it and so are some of the girls I was friends with in choir when I went to WGC and, to my surprise, one of my and
mad_as_soup's debaters from last year, Sophia. I actually went down there with Nick's family so I was there for rehearsal time, but ended up helping out: I organized the late girls' lives so they could go warm up instead of dealing with it, handed out programs, and then filmed the thing on the school camera.
It was a good concert! Divided into two halves: First half was sacred music, second half was secular. The runaway standout number was The Twelve Days After Christmas because it was funny. :p Nicky and I now want to perform it as a duet on Christmas after our failed, half-remembered attempt at the party that night.
It was many of my girls' last Teal Voices concert because they're seventh form this year so they're graduatiiiiing. It was so embarrassing when Ms. Sutherland brought it up: "Hopefully they'll be like Caryl and still pop in to see what we're up to." All I could really do was wave and go, "Hi guys!"
The FOCINZ (my favorite Filipino group; they're basically my extended family here in New Zealand) quarterly party was that night. I love these parties because it's a chance to catch up with my bandmates now that we're not practising every weekend. Only thing is, because it's the first time I've seen most of FOCINZ since I got into the Disney program, I was fielding "when are you leaving" "what'll it be like" "are you going to Florida or California" questions all night and even got a "good luck for your move" bookmark and, after all this quarter's birthday presents had been dealt with, a good luck card and money. :S I totally called them out on trying to get rid of me, haha.
Someone moved and it was at their new giant house, with a freakin' vegetable garden (I told Tita Dindin we should stick Marcie in there and take Anne Geddes photos) and a huuuuge yard. Even us older kids started playing in it! I was the loser who gave free tags in All In Tag so we'd both go different ways around the house and get everyone more quickly. :D
Problem with these parties is that they really take a toll on my voice for some reason. So I sang crap that night, and I was still a bit raw for my singing recital the next day. Actually I think I was passable vocally but not superb; the problem was I forgot a line! I sang You Can Always Count on Me from City of Angels. Kinda wish I could've gone out on a better performance.
Loads of songs I knew this concert. My little sister did a gospel song (which I found kind of ironic considering my slutty song of sluttery), quietly. This one Asian lady with a thick accent has improved! Lots of good performances. And this one girl who had a sore throat and gave up and ran out on her first performance and then decided to try it again. :D
Tuesday night was
iamlivingmusic's birthday part one, at Masala Restaurant. Yum, but I'd forgotten how hot tikka masala is, haha. And good company...the half that I knew, because I am frightfully bad at small talk.
Photos! Also Chucks and a biker jacket are totally appropriate to wear with a cocktail dress.
Three of the photos I like:
Carina and I.
Me and Nicole. Yeah, I took this. :D

A month ago there was an ad on SJS for a "rent a crowd". Wandering about for twenty minutes for $25? I was so there.
A week ago they suddenly e-mailed with a slightly more detailed description about a "human bus carrying a union to its destination". Whatever, it was still wandering about for $25, so I was still there.
So I turned up today and found we were in fact protesting the bus lanes they're putting through Manners Mall, from Manners to the council chambers. "Union" was a bit generous considering there were max ten people there who weren't hired. It was amusing, I guess? And I do agree that there shouldn't be a bus lane through Manners. One of the actual protesters was hlarious, this over enthusiastic little old lady who managed to make everything she said sound angry. I'm glad it worked out okay. We marched on the road and there was one riot police guy around so I was kinda worried.
TVNZ was there so I apparently ended up on One News. :|
