If I was a finalist on [my country here] Idol, I would sing...
Own Choice: Just a Girl - No Doubt (my other choice was Breathe - Michelle Branch but I typed this instead)
Rock: Fell in Love With a Girl - the White Stripes (second choice was The Boys of Summer - Don Henley)
R&B/Soul: Umbrella - Rihanna (I was blanking so badly on this genre D:)
(your country here): Language - Dave Dobbyn
80's: Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley
Disco: Lady Marmalade - LaBelle
Birthyear: Fall At Your Feet - Crowded House (this song is significant to me on too many levels; cracks me up to find out it is as old as I am)
Movies and Musicals: Reflection - Mulan (I know we are all horribly shocked that I'm not doing HSM; actually it was this or Adelaide's Lament)
Idols' Idols: Ain't No Other Man - Christina Aguilera (to be honest my favorite song of hers isn't actually a single)
Acoustic: Dakota - Stereophonics
Current Hits/Top 20: Good Girls Go Bad - Cobra Starship featuring Leighton Meester
And finally, Livejournal's Choice: Comment with what you would want me to sing!
If you take this: Tag at will! If you don't like a theme, feel free to replace one, but do try to stick to themes that could realistically happen on the show.
While looking up different countries' themes for this meme, I found out that French Idol Nouvelle Star had "cartoon songs" as a theme. That is adorable. ♥
I was going over my repertoire for this and I'd honestly forgotten I'd done some pretty cool performances last year - winning the school talent quest and then later playing the Michael Fowler Center in the semis or whatevs of a nationwide talent quest (that is, when they brought everyone from around the country in).
And, finally, I'd like to say that these aren't necessarily my favorite songs from these genres, but I tried to pick songs with the potential for actually showing skill and going somewhere even when cut down, instead of kind of chill songs. Because I have a lot of chill songs. When it came to the soundtrack theme I also tried to choose a song that could stand on its own and isn't rendered meaningless out of context or cut down to a solo; removing the context kind of killed most of the show tunes I like.
[awaits flames for my taste in music]
