Today I interviewed:
A Canadian guy who is going to UBC next fall (Okanagan though: "Van's too big for me"): I could have killed him, except that I was so surprised by OMG UBC that he was the first person I managed to talk to about more than just the survey (unlike my one workmate, who wanders up to people and starts conversations), and he was such a nice guy. He dealt very well with my embarrassing enthusiasm for all things Canada UBC and his own cluelessness about NZ schools, too.
A boy who fidgeted with his skateboard while I was talking to him, propped it up and leant on it, and eventually resorted to plopping down on top of it on the ground. Cue a n00b interviewer sitting on the ground with her interviewee at the bottom of Manners/Cuba.
A dyslexic guy who was also into film: I read him the showcards for multiple choice questions aloud. It made it more interesting.
A horde of kids who all peer pressured each other into doing the survey for the Subway card and because they were all waiting for each other anyway. Unfortunately half of them were smokers and the headache I woke up with disapproved.
One more person than I did yesterday!
I also:
Had a blood test done (unrelated to work)
Found out how much flights to Vancouver are (also blatantly unrelated to work)
Stopped a drag queen (uninterested in the survey)
Gave four tourists directions (the two little old English ladies trying to find "the expensive shop, starting with a K, like Harrods" I understand, but why was the German girl going to the Department of Conservation?) and epic failed with another one (where is the Comfort Inn?)
Practised smiling at strangers
Saw nix_the_fish but thought we had enough teenage girls (we didn't) so didn't interview her, oops, my bad
school: university,
