So the recital went well, I think! Covered up a mucked up chord. XD;
And oh god oh god I do crazy things late at night with no one to talk to. Last night I started filling in my online application to UBC, but was thwarted by the only semester option being this winter semester (September to next April). ._.; Where would I get $100CND anyway?
The more uni's brought up in mentor group, the more I get antsy about it. :/ I kind of just want to start sending off applications already. Need another reference teacher... Sutherland, McKenzie, one more...
Um, film's...what, two-thirds through? Still need to work in the voiceovers, but I'm rather pleased with my painstaking attempts at L-cutting. Who knows, maybe it will make up for my complete and utter lack of variety in shots and lack of movement. And, uh, that failed bit where
cattrius and I moved between two 'scenes' and tried to cover it up with a cross-fade that just ends up looking lame.
Today at orchestra I finally realized the problem with playing percussion coming from a singer's/pianist's background.
Tim: "How do you tune this [timpani]?"
Me: "I have no idea."
Tim: "Do you guys have a crescent?"
Me: "I have no idea."
Tim: "Should I play standing up?"
Me: "I have no idea."
In fact, "where are we" is one of the two questions I feel qualified to answer ("five before E"). The other one being "don't you guys have a better glock" ("this is the best one we have").
Grieg's stuff was fun, though. Lawrence (the conductor who isn't Owen) attempted to give us some inspiring imagery in the form of rolling hills in Norway, and the prince is waking up and seeing it all.
Some violinist: "Aladdin!"
Lawrence: "...Okay, the prince is Aladdin!"
I can't tell Jess and her twin apart: "PRINCE CASPIAN~"
And half the girls went off on this tangent on the attractiveness of Caspian. :\ I was not intending to fuel the fire by bringing up Susan when Lawrence brought up the troll king's beautiful princess, I just picked the most age appropriate human girl in Narnia, I swear. Hey, he was suggesting Ariel or Jasmine, I figured we should at least stick to the same fandom...
