Sunday morning saw me being surprise support for Something Slightly Strange at their chamber music competition. Chamber music isn't usually my thing but I did enjoy it. Even if some of the groups bored me at times. 3S was good! My first time hearing them since they formed ages ago. In the afternoon I was a surprise guest at
mad_as_soup's. XD; We were nerds and mucked about in Sims a lot of the time. (I spent a lot of Sunday bumming at friends' houses because my family was at the Philippine Independence Day celebrations while I got roped into coming to the sodding Guides zone AGM. I mean, it was fun, but this was the first Fili Independence Day thing I've missed in several years, if at all. :/)
Monday was the day of the surprise laptop issues. Well, actually my laptop's been having issues for quite some time now: The battery wouldn't charge and eventually just stopped being recognized. Dad figures it's leaking, because it smells funny. Anyway. Generally it still works plugged into the wall, but on Monday afternoon, it wasn't turning on. After a few minutes of unplugging and replugging things to see if it would go, the mains plug spontaneously combusted. o_O;; I freaked out because I have no idea what to do with electrical fires but then Dad just blew it out. XD; Managed to replace it within a few minutes, yay.
On Tuesday afternoon at my singing lesson I was suddenly a surprise soprano. I shocked and amazed both myself and my singing teacher by hitting top B in my warmups. O_O;; Usually my voice gives out somewhere around top F.
Today? Surprise film. I thought we still had a lot to shoot, we were actually done within an hour. So now I'm terrified I missed something, especially because I only seem to have half an hour of footage including the millions of outtakes... (WHOEVER SHOT THAT CAMERA? :D)
There was also the surprise win. My and
mad_as_soup's debate team won their debate out of nowhere! :O We were all convinced we'd epic failed but then they won! RAWK ON.
I've been using my study periods lately rather musically. (Or trying to, anyway, when I don't get kicked out of the hall because Year 9 music girls need a piano.) Part of it is I'm trying to enter the
Play It Strange songwriting contest again, for the last time. I've noticed that I only ever really finish songs if they're for school or a competition. The last two years I entered with epic last minute rush jobs (...well, last year's wasn't too bad, I actually put it on my artist MySpace) but this year the last minutes are going to be spent in the States. In fact, the due date is the day I get back. So I have to do this now. If I can get a piano. :| I never seem to do anything productive at home.
The other part is I have a singing recital next week. 7PM, Friday June 27th; Adam Concert Room, NZ School of Music / Victoria University; $2 for students. And I'm sort of accompanying myself. ._.; I prefer practising at school because the pianos there are in tune and in tune pianos > my keyboard... Anyway, come to recital? ♥
...
And have a meme. (I realized while renovating my tags - still not finished, oops - that meme is my most frequently used tag. :/ But I haven't done one for a while. Sometimes I just get the urge.)

10. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:
The major media studies project this year is making your own film. Despite my initial idea to do a documentary on film making and just stalk someone else's film, I decided to adapt a scene from the RPG I'm addicted to I help moderate, digital_dive. I was trying to get a decent place to film in and some decent actors and epically failed at both, so I resorted to filming myself and a couple of my friends, Chris (cattrius) and Grace (grace_face48) in my room, so it's going to be lame. Also, this was supposed to be editing week and last week was supposed to be the last week of filming: I finished shooting tonight. I'm getting stressed.
From July 7th - 28th I'm going to the States. A few days in LA, then a week in Colorado with one of my aunts on Mom's side, and two weeks in New York with my other aunt. It's been ten years since I've been Stateside. We're going to Disneyland and to Wicked at the Gershwin. I'm pretty excited, but I'm also very bitter about this trip making me miss Chris's birthday party and my school ball, and I don't have anyone else's school ball to invite myself to.
digital_dive is addictive.
Musical stuff are discussed in main entry.
