In the end, I got the Latin project finished ON TIME. It was a small miracle. I was very proud of having finished; despite having resorted to rambling on about All Saints' Day, why there are so many weddings in June, and Parentalia in my page on Lemuria to fill word requirements; really not knowing what to say in the conclusion; and having done about twice the work on social customs about death than I did on the other sections.
As was typical, I procrastinated writing my reading log speech conclusion all weekend. As was typical, I got drawn to do my speech on Monday. Ms. Rae was slightly disconcerted by my resorting to using my Palm Pilot for lack of cuecards, but in the end, I was thanking whoever's Up There that I debate, as it meant I was looking up loads and I BS'd my way through a conclusion rather well. Also, I got quite a few grins and laughs out of people, which was awesome! Especially at this: "It is a touching tale of love...action...adventure...prostitution...and opium use."
I am completely procrastinating this fanfares project. And playing The Sims instead. I have discovered that I enjoy renovating (new carpet/wallpaper) premade houses and trying to stuff as much furniture in as possible.
Math has been surprisingly enjoyable lately, as we are doing probability and thus our speedy little Excellence group has been doing simulations. I have taken charge of the dicerolling so as to avoid writing. So occasionally in the middle of the period there would be a huge "YAY!" or "WE GOT A CAR!!", which somewhat disturbed the rest of the class.
Jorelle's sixteenth birthday party (also her little brother Jonathan's) was on Sunday. I was very tragic and stayed with the adults in the lounge (the kids were in Jorelle's room) purely because the lounge had better cellphone reception. Then I hogged the karaoke mic, as usual :) did loads of different styles and then eventually got a lot of applause for Iris (yes, by Goo Goo Dolls).
Emily taught me how to read/write tab so I wrote out the guitar part of my composition in TAB and treble! It is hawtt. And my rhythm is incredibly complicated and has no apparent relation to that in the flute. And I want my f'ing performance marks back!!
[cuts and pastes from e-mail to Marianne and Jemma] Not looking forward to regional camp up in Levin this weekend. To be honest, I only really signed up for it because I assumed my friends would be going. But no, it's just my friend's friend (hi
Louisa!) and my leaders going. And it'll be (oh god this is so sad) one weekend with barely any freetxt. At the very least, it does get me out of going to Palmy for the Fili Labor Weekend celebrations. Although that is kinda bumming cos I miss the
UP Concert Chorus performance (and a few of them are staying in my house for a few days before, coming tonight even). You win some, you lose some, I guess.
As mentioned, the choir people are coming tonight so Raeann's in my room and she's on the trundler and it is extremely disconcerting having her around because I haven't shared a room since she was about four. (She's almost eight now.)
On a complete and total whim (and an idea that won't leave me alone), I signed up for
NaNoWriMo. BAD IDEA. Exams are going to eat me, as is this novel. My username's Starshone Storm, for reference. Frankly I think signing up might just have been an excuse to write epic femmeslash, but there you go. I might just do it half-arsed because of exams.
Lately in Social Studies I've been doing a project on Rata Blanca's Guerrero del Arco Iris, some Argentinean metal band's song for the
Rainbow Warrior. And now apparently I've gotten Spanish sites blocked on the school web safety thing, WTF. Every time I try to access one it comes up with "This website is blocked. Further attempts to access this or similar websites will result in disciplinary action." :/ They must think I'm a terrorist or something.
Rangers was extremely fun last night :) :) :)
