My Year in Review 2005

1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
Exams...and by god I passed them all with Excellence (except Science, that was Merit, wah).

2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I kept two. :P Get better at singing and learn algebra. But yeah, I'll still try making them next year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Hey Shanell!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.

5. What countries did you visit?
Erm...none. Odd, this. But we just might be going to New York and Colorado next year, shot.

6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
Still money. :P I said that last year too, haha.

7. What dates from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
July 11th - Chris' fourteenth birthday, and also my heat in the Shooting Star Talent Search, which I won!! July 27th... December 3rd - TV2 Idolised December Tour 05. December 9th - last day of being a junior, Gilmore Girls night.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Year 10 exams. Distinction in English. Making it to the semifinal of the Shooting Star Talent Search. Singing at the Filipino Christmas party, and the Christmas singing concert doing two songs from Miss Saigon.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Textiles. Lol. No, always getting grounded with such phenomenal timing, and missing several friends' birthday parties.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Flu, twice, the second go still hasn't really worn off.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My Zire. *snuggles*

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I believe every little thing should be celebrated.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Yours ;P

14. Where did most of your money go?
Library fines, cookies, frappucinos, and presents.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
TV2 Idolised December Tour 05. :P Gilmore Girls night and the afternoon that preceded that. The new library finally opening (what a letdown, I still feel lost in it).

16. What song will always remind you of 2005?
It's Too Late - Evermore. First time I heard it was on Idol, naturally. Dedicated to the One I Love - NZ Idol top ten, which was crap. Everywhere and Are You Happy Now - Michelle Branch, because I performed them both and pretty damn well. I'd Give My Life For You and I Still Believe - Miss Saigon, ditto.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier.
b) thinner or fatter? I have no idea.
c) richer or poorer? Poorer, LOL, in 2004 when I did this survey I had 65c...now I have 30c in 5c coins XD

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Performing, of course. Writing. Musing. Gotten out of the house. Debating, oddly.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Staying at home. Txting. :P

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
At Rivendell, baby!

21. Did you fall in love in 2005?
Maybe.

22. How many one-night stands?
Five, and they were great.

23. What were your favorite TV programs?
NZ Idol, second season. Gilmore Girls. Lost. Desperate Housewives.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No. Hate is such a waste of energy.

25. What was the best book you read?
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, obviously. Looking for Alibrandi - Melina Marchetta. Across the Wall - Garth Nix. Wasteland - Francesca Lia Block. The Rules of Attraction - Bret Easton Ellis.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
That I don't have to own an album to have it on the harddrive. :P The beauties of the library... Nik Carlson, Teresa Bergman, Ashley Cooper! :P Ah, Idol. Jesse McCartney, Hilary Duff (yeah, I know), Lindsay Lohan. Which is pathetic, really. Miss Saigon and Wicked. Michelle Branch and Kelly Clarkson.

27. What did you want and get?
A new Palm Pilot. RAWK! Idolised tickets. A locker that can fit a cricket wicket. Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (mmm, DVD burners). A harddrive upgrade. Distinction in English and a prize in Social Studies. NCEA credits. A boyfriend :)

28. What did you want and not get?
A trip to Christchurch. The Sims 2. To finish a Final Fantasy game (okay that's my fault). Various albums (but I'm still waiting on Christmas).

29. What was your favorite film of this year?
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, fo' sho. Madagascar coming a close second.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was dragged to Rotorua and spent the day cooped up in the CRV with the laptop. It sucked, really really hard. I turned fourteen.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Getting out more.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
Getting girly.

33. What kept you sane?
Music, singing, friends, and Chris (who else would ask if a test you were terrified of was trying to eat you?)...

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Nik Carlson, hahaha, with Ashley Cooper a close second :P

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
The election. I would have laughed so hard if Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis got in, but sadly it didn't happen and we just had the "HOLY SHIT THEY'RE TYING HARDOUT" drama of Labor vs. National.

36. Who did you miss?
People who were away.

37. Who was the best new person you met?
The wonderful Year 13s on my friends list (hello Aimee! hello Zsofi! hello Lina! hello Jen!), and Chris.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005:
Stalking Persistence pays off...don't be afraid to make the first move.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
I cantdecide (no typo) so I'll put a few:
Everytime I look, you're never there, and everytime I sleep, you're always there, coz you're everywhere to me. When I close my eyes, it's you I see. You're everything I know that makes me believe I'm not alone. ~Everywhere - Michelle Branch
I'm better off every day. When I'm standing in the pouring rain, I don't mind: I think of you and everything's alright. ~Better Off - Ashlee Simpson
I'm through accepting limits coz someone says they're so. Some things I cannot change, but till I try, I'll never know. Too long, I've been afraid of losing love I guess I've lost. Well, if that's love, it comes at much too high a cost. I'd sooner buy defying gravity. ~Defying Gravity - Wicked

I was GOING to post that stupidly long 1001 question survey here but LJ said my post was too large. :P Obviously I ranted on more than I did last time I did that.

This is Johanna's cat.

Me in Talia's purple bridesmaid dress (and purple wings but you can't really see those), sitting on the windowsill on House Music Day, Talia went and took a KAZILLION photos of me in the dress, I think she should go be a photographer.

Me spinning in Talia's purple bridesmaid dress (and purple wings) on House Music Day. I am so in love with that dress. Also, this photo amuses me how my legs look like I'm still but then the rest of me is all blurry. Heh.

Bored!

Going to Rivendell on Christmas, yay.

Still in love with this icon.
