Colonial Pipeline has
restored service after a ransomware attack crippled operations. However, they warn that it will take some time to get back to normal, since a pipeline doesn't just come back on like an electrical line.
Now the question becomes whether the decisionmakers will learn the right lesson from this. Not just the computer security issues, but also the issues of having such a vast area depend upon a single pipeline. Like what we saw last year with Just In Time distribution networks, even a slight interruption in service results in massive disruptions downstream.
