Apparently very nasty things happen when a kombucha gets too cold. While I was putting some food away after cooking for the weekend's convention, I discovered that we had a mess on the second shelf of the refrigerator. I looked closer and discovered that a bottle of kombucha had burst. Since they're in glass bottles, that meant tracking down all the shards of glass on various shelves, as well as mopping up the liquid mess on several shelves. At least all the food was in closed containers, so I didn't have to worry about other food being contaminated and needing to be thrown away.
I've since dialed back the temperature on the refrigerator. We're also going to get the kombucha used up instead of just leaving it to sit around until whenever.
