I had been planning to post some reflections on the repeated use of the "Nazi" card in relation to Trump backfiring on the Harris campaign and the Democrats in general. And then I read several news reports on the outbreak of violent Jew-hate in Amsterdam, as thugs of Arab Muslim origin attacked fans of Maccabi Tel Aviv, an Israeli soccer team, right as the 86th anniversary of Kristallnacht approaches.
Although some might dismiss this is yet another outbreak of "football hooliganism," there is growing evidence that it was planned -- and it was specifically targeting the Israeli fans as Jews, not just as fans of a rival team. There is video evidence of this targeting, both taken by the perpetrators and by witnesses.
Coming a year, a month, and a day after the horrors of 10/7, it is more evidence of how deep the obsession with destroying Israel and Jews is among Muslims, both in the Middle East and among immigrants to Europe. Dutch politician Geert Wilders personally questioned the Security Minister about how this could happen, including why known criminals were not denaturalized and deported. The Israeli government has organized emergency flights to evacuate their citizens home.
(This is not to say that every Muslim is a Jew-hater. There are Muslims who are Israeli citizens and live in peace with their Jewish neighbors. Some of them were even taken hostage on 10/7, and may well be treated worse because they are seen by their captors as traitors to their faith. The IDF recently rescued one such Israeli Arab Muslim hostage, to much rejoicing by his family).
