A Bittercon for GenCon
GenCon is in Indianapolis for the weekend. I have many fond memories of going to it in 2011 through 2014. After that, GenCon tended to be on the same weekend as Tampa Bay Comic Con, and the one year it wasn't, we weren't able to secure a volunteer position that would've allowed us to attend -- and as it turned out, it was a blessing in disguise, because we ended up dealing with a funeral that weekend.
This year we're at home, since AnimeIowa (last weekend) waitlisted us for vendor booths, and Tampa Bay Comic Con (which we had to drop after comparing the new booth rates to previous years' sales) moved to the end of August. However, my husband's still recovering from last week's medical adventures, so it's probably just as well we didn't try to seek a volunteer position to earn our badges.
So I'll just look through some of the panel discussions and see what we can do when we can't go to a con that's practically in our back yard.
