Yikes!

Typically ransomware attacks have been against high-profile corporate and government targets. But it turns out that being small is no real protection -- a California credit union has reported a devastating ransomware attack that has left its members frozen out of their accounts, and which may take months to resolve. Months in which members are going to be left struggling to pay their basic bills -- although the credit union is trying to smooth the way by forgiving late fees, etc.

A small credit union may not be such a visible target -- but it will also have fewer resources for dealing with an attack when it happens. They may not have as many security specialists, or ready access to companies specializing in cybersecurity and data recovery. And they are apt to have less in the way of financial reserves to carry them through such a difficult period.
