Twenty-five Years

I just got an announcement that LiveJournal is now twenty-five years old, and there will be some special celebratory activities this month.

I didn't join until 2005, and at the time I was running on hardware so old that I had some difficulties with the post editing system in existence at that time. But shortly thereafter, someone got us a machine capable of running what was at the time a modern OS and browser, and my access improved markedly.

OTOH, I didn't really get to posting regularly for almost a decade, at least partly because I was far more active on SFF.net, a now-vanished USEnet-style platform that was originally created when GEnie closed its doors and the lively SFRT forums needed somewhere to go.

It's amazing how much computing and the Internet have changed in the last two and a half decades.

time, computers, internet communication
