Needle and Thread

As we're getting ready to head off for a week-long outdoor event, I decided it was time to get some mending done. A button that had fallen off a shirt, another with a buttonhole that had stretched and loosened until it no longer held the button. Socks with small holes in otherwise sound cloth.

None of it is all that big an undertaking, but with everything else that I'm trying to get done amidst a heavy show roster, they just haven't gotten done. As I did the most critical items, I realized just how much the mending has piled up. I really need to declare a mending day, and just spend an afternoon clearing that pile. Mend what is actually worth mending, and discard what has reached the point that it's simply too worn out to salvage.

Of course that's going to have to come after next week's event is over, and given that there's a little over a week between it and the anime convention the second weekend of June, it may have to wait until after that. OTOH, it does look like we'll have several weeks free in August, so it might be a good time for a mending day, especially if the weather gets too hot to work outdoors, in the yard or at the storage lot.
