A Quiet Christmas with Family

Dec 25, 2022 22:23

We were planning to go to church with Dad this morning, but when we got there, we discovered they’d canceled services after a pipe in the ceiling burst and they didn’t have any water in the whole building. Maybe we should’ve checked online before leaving, since they had the front restrooms closed due to frozen pipes at the Christmas Eve services.

So we went back to Dad’s place and waited until the rest of the family arrived. We had Christmas dinner, although without the cranberry salad because it required a blender and we couldn’t find Dad’s. But there was plenty of food, and then we had our gift exchange.

The rest of the afternoon and evening have been quiet. We did some visiting and I’ve done some writing. But it’s very low-key compared with the Christmases of my childhood.
