Today is the first day of
Chicon 8, this year's World Science Fiction Convention. I still remember how much I enjoyed Chicon 2000. Back in 2012, we wanted to go to Chicon 7, but we didn't own a car at the time, and trying to park our giant business van in downtown Chicago would've been unmanageable. This year we have a car -- but since the third member of the household doesn't drive the van, we couldn't very well take off in the car and leave him stranded at home all weekend.
So here we are at home, with Worldcon just a few hours' drive northwest of us. And what else is there to do but Bittercon some of the programming items over the course of the weekend and see if I can ignite at least a glimmer of the experience I didn't get to have.
