I think that it's very, very clever. It also ties in with the whole multiverse idea that crops up in Gakuen Datenroku. The fact that Kaworu's an angel only makes things more delicious because, if he's Adam/Tabris, then surely he is bordering on omnipotent.

The ending of that was so lame though. As usual, Kaworu gets shafted. =T

Even so...Kaworu was a wonderful character in GD. The best character, I'd go as far to say.

Then again though, he was the nicest guy in NGE. That says a lot about humanity...huh?

The ending was not only lame, but rushed. I wish they'd at least given Kaworu and Shinji an actual happy end, because they keep hammering home the fact that no one else is anywhere near a good match for the other.

Kaworu's nearly always the best character in any universe of NGE. And yeah, humanity pretty much sucks, although I think that people are getting less shitty with each incarnation.
I mean the difference between Original!DR!Gendo and Fake!DR!Gendo was pretty massive.
