[Private to Parvati]
Please don't breathe a word of this to your sister, but do you think she'd be interested in spending some time on Valentine's day with Ernie? He's fretting about it, and I'd feel much better encouraging him if I knew it wouldn't end in defeat.

Alright. So we're supposed to go walking on weekends, but she'd been sick and asked if I wanted to go this weekend. But I said I had a business trip. Which now I do as I picked one up in case she looked into the matter. That's besides the point. Then I asked if next Saturday would work, and perhaps brunch afterward and she said yes.

So. Now what do I do? Do you think she realises it was Valentine's day? Do I bring flowers or anything? No, that would be too pushy, I'd think. Perhaps chocolate? But she's a fantastic baker, so she probably could make something immensely more satisfying than chocolate.

Why did you -

I'm almost certain she knows it's Valentine's Day, most women do keep track of these things.

Flowers would be a sweet gesture, and not too pushy as long as you don't get a huge bouquet. At any rate, you should do something to distinguish the date from just a casual get-together.

You did tell her it was a date, right?

Oh. So I shouldn't worry then?

Alright. flowers. Yes. What colour?

She might not know that you know it was Valentine's Day if you just said "next Saturday."

Do you know her favorite color? Or better yet, her favorite type of flower?
Don't fret if you don't. It's honestly not a big deal, most flowers are nice.

That's true. Should I say something to let her know?

Women have favourite flowers? I just asked what her favourite colour is, should I have asked about the flowers instead?

Well as long as she knows it's a date I think that's fine.

Most of us do! And asking about flowers might be a little obvious. It's fine if you don't know. You can get tulips, those come in plenty of colors.

I'm... not sure that she does?

Do they come in turquoise?
