7. agony & irony - alkaline trio ("calling all skeletons", "help me", "love love kiss kiss")
6. lucky - nada surf ("see these bones", "whose authority", "are you lightening?")
5. new surrender - anberlin ("the resistance", "feel good drag", "breaking")
4. folie a deux - fall out boy ("she's my wiona", "the (shipped) gold standard", "w.a.m.s")

1. illuminate - lydia ("fate", "a fine evening for a rogue", "now the one you once loved is leaving" -- this is one of the most incredibly beautiful and incredibly heartbreaking records i've heard in a long time. the melodies are gorgeous, the performances are amazing, and i spent a lot of nights this summer walking around listening to this record all night. if you check out one record on this list, make it this one."

1. stop drop and roll - foxboro hot tubs (truth be told, i didnt even get this record until december, and i wish i had gotten into it earlier in the year, because i think it would have definitely been in my top ten. green day as a 60's band. what more can you really want?)
biggest disappointments --
4. when the world comes down - all american rejects (where are the singles?)
3. the quilt - gym class heroes (i mean, really?)
2. 808's an heartbreak - kanye west (turn the autotune off, kanye)
1. the glass passenger - jacks mannequin (it isn't that this was a BAD record, i actually really enjoyed it, but it lacks the magic and the staying power than "everything in transit" had. "annie use your telescope" is an incredible song though.)
