I loves me some long-winded commenting so no need to ever apologize for that.

YES. WORD WORD WORD TO ALL OF THIS. She's my favorite of all time too (I am always fascinated by her though so the only time I truly wasn't sure if I could watch her was the deleted bathroom scene where she tries to kill herself and a little bit of maelstrom and that's because she was in so much pain not because she was lashing out. I did cringe a wee bit at the Gaeta baiting though in Disquiet. Just a little.) And I'm nothing like her (except for maybe big mouth/sarcasm abilities.)

The vulnerability IS my favorite part too. My icon when she looks up to Lee all worried that he won't say they're okay in The Captain's Hand after the shooting is probably my favorite, though the other two moments you mention are right up there. And the "Are you sure I'm what you want?" and the "Especially Me." and "I guess that's all we'll ever be now." EEK. That's why I love writing shippy fic and I love her with Lee. She almost always only lets that vulnerability crack through with him. (And Adama very early on. Sam...once or twice.)

But yeah you have to take a lot of licks before you get to the chewy center and I don't think that can be underestimated!

I write from Lee's POV as much or more than Kara's too! Because I like her to retain a bit of mystery and I pine like Lee does!! hee.

I hope this ignites Kara and pilots love in you and prompts more fic!! I will keep talking till the cows come home if that's the case. And also I'm thinking of running a Kara gen ficathon (or maybe a BSG women gen ficathon...) in August.

Because she/can and should be awesome on her own I think.

There's a deleted bathroom scene where she tries to kill herself?!? How did I miss this?!

I'm nothing like Kara except in that I also believe deeply in God, and faith underpins me like it underpins her. But that's about it. I'm far more like Lee - by the rules, works really hard to get good grades, a little bit of an academic snob - except I adore both my parents and have had the most stable and loving childhood a girl could ask for.

Sam's interesting for me because if I wasn't so enamoured with PILOTS I would have liked them as a pairing, and she was clearly comfortable and loved him very much, and he knows a lot of her deep down because she confides in him about things like her past. But the way she is with Lee slays me, and also in all the points you mention too - the "Are you sure I'm what you want?" made my heart turn over a little bit.

I'd love to be part of a ficathon but August's a disaster month (Term 3 for teachers ... nightmare), so maybe I can just submit a story if I get time? You can prompt me or something. I just don't want to let anyone down. :)

When she's with Leoben locked in, there's a deleted scene where she goes into the bathroom and snaps a piece of metal off inside the toilet and slices her wrist open. He comes in before she bleeds out though. I hated it so much. Other people have said they read it as her choice/the only way she could beat him finally, but she didn't look anything but completely defeated and miserable to me. :(

I was always pretty neutral on Sam until the finale, when I suddenly turned quite bitter. I used to enjoy them enough to read some Kara/Sam but the depth (even if she did confide in him about her past) was never there for me in their relationship. Everything was so much more with Lee.

Maybe it won't be August, and yes no pressure at all. I think we'll take a whole lot of prompt submissions so they'll always be there to pick and choose from. That would be good because prompts can be so helpful and usually all you get is shippy prompts.

(Haven't forgotten by the way that there's an academy pilots/hair cutting/coffee drinking prompt I solicited from you. ;) Am still mulling that over. )
