Character info
Series/Fandom: Sailor Moon - Anime
Character's Name: Nephrite
Character's Sex: Male
Character's Age: They never say in the anime
Canon point: After his canon anime death
Abilities:
- Nephrite can pinpoint the person whose energy is about to reach its highest level by asking the stars to find them. Also he can ask the stars questions like, “What is Sailor Moon’s greatest weakness?” The stars then answer by giving him a faded illusion picturing the answer in floating in the air.
- Athletic. Nephrite can easily flip over tall fences with near effortlessness.
- He can put his mark on to any object to increase a person’s power and push them towards their highest peak of energy. Once they reach it a youma appears to collect the energy.
- He has the ability to ping Mamoru. What I mean by this is when Nephrite walks past Mamoru, without even touching him, he could sense his power. It feels like a sense of familiarity.
- Can steal people’s energy/life force.
- Nephrite like most of the Generals can hover/fly.
- Nephrite can make many duplicates of himself, likely these are illusions only meant to confuse Sailor Moon and to multiply his energy in order to call down a powerful monster from the stars.
- Using the power of the stars he can even erase bits of people’s memory. He makes Molly forget that Maxfield Stanton attacked her during his attempt to lure out Sailor Moon… this doesn’t really work out well, as she remembers bits of it anyway but at least she just thinks it was just a dream.
- Nephrite can send his shadow into another person’s body in order to turn them evil and control their actions. He does this once to Molly in order to send her into a party to steal a jewel for him.
- Nephrite uses the power of the stars to make a black crystal (star crystal) to find the Imperium Silver Crystal. This black crystal keeps reacting to Molly’s love for him instead.
- He can magically shoot a burst of energy at people.
Or place his hands together like he is praying to send several meteorites of power raining down on his enemies.
Or cross his arms over his chest where a nebula briefly appears to unleash a more powerful, larger burst of energy.
These attacks are Nephrite’s ‘Starlight Attack’.
- Nephrite can teleport between Earth and the Dark Kingdom. Or… the ground to the top of a building.
- He can make an illusion that makes the road in from of a person swirl and twist in order to confuse them… or as in this case to discover the true ID of Sailor Moon.
- When Molly is kidnapped Nephrite can hear her telepathically calling out to him.
- He can cause letters to burst into flame in his hand when angry.
- Nephrite is good at hand to hand combat but he can also make a sword/crystal appear in his hand for swordplay style fighting. A style of battle he also seems to be pretty good at.
Strengths:
Nephrite can bring down very powerful attacks capable of killing some one or… at least destroying property if he should miss. His Starlight Attack alone has been seen to tear up pavement when it narrowly missed striking Sailor Moon.
His ability to ask the stars for advice gives him a great advantage when it comes to finding victims and coming up with evil schemes. He is able to use the power of the stars to find out Sailor Moon’s greatest weakness is Tuxedo Mask, which results in a plan to disguise himself as Tuxedo Mask to lure her out.
Being athletic, even when his powers fail him Nephrite can still fight and defend himself with physical attacks.
His abilities to hover in the air and teleport himself places are great for making quick exits.

Weaknesses:
Nephrite has a tendency to be too cocky when he is winning. It can often cause him to make mistakes or assume his plans have worked before they actually have. This stems from the pride he has in himself and his abilities.
Molly is a huge weakness for him. In fact saving her life was what caused him to die at the hands of Zoisite’s minions. He doesn’t really know why he feels so protective of her because he isn’t familiar with the concept of love… but everyone else can see what is happening to him.
He can teleport, maybe even between the worlds, but I see this as a limited skill. Something he wouldn’t be able to use all of the time. Otherwise in the series he would use it much more often during difficult situations.

Personality:
Nephrite is a man full of a lot of pride. He has confidence in himself and his abilities. When others offer to help him, whether this is meant in a friendly way or not, he will always refuse. Why would he need your help? He can handle this situation entirely by himself! Nephrite almost considers the offer of help an insult to his abilities. Like the person offering to help him believes he is too weak to be able to manage on his own. It would take him a little while to be comfortable with the idea of lowering his guard enough to allow some one to help him.
That said, there is one person in particular who was able to do just that. During his missions on Earth Nephrite kept running across a young girl, a friend of Sailor Moon’s who always seemed to be around when ever Nephrite was up to some scheme. Molly formed an instant crush on Nephrite that quite quickly transformed into love. Nephrite couldn’t understand why this girl was being so nice to him or… why he was being so protective of her. Her complete acceptance of Nephrite and her faith in him, slowly changed Nephrite. He began to see how hate filled the Dark Kingdom was and even began ignoring some of Queen Beryl’s orders. Though he never officially betrayed the Dark Kingdom or its goals he did do everything in his power to save Molly from Zoisite’s minions when they kidnapped and later tried to murder her. He sustained injuries to severe and ended up dying in her arms.
Molly’s kidnapping was a major turning point for Nephrite. Up until then he felt there was nothing more to life than the Dark Kingdom, but upon hearing that Molly was in danger he gave all of that up for her. He abandoned his plan to kill Sailor Moon when he had her in order to go out and rescue Molly.
This protectiveness was surprising even for him. He had never felt the need to watch out for anyone else. People were weak, temporary, they didn’t need or deserve his attention. Molly was the only one to be able to find the soft gentle side of Nephrite that he hid so well from others that even he didn‘t know it existed.
Nephrite is a loyal member of the Dark Kingdom, one of the four generals who worked directly for Queen Beryl. At one point the was pure evil and just plain could not see humans as anything more than insects to be used and conquered by the Dark Kingdom. However there are hints in the series that this has not always been the case. While Nephrite seems unable to sense the power of the Sailor Senshi while they are not transformed, he was struck with a strange sensation once when he walked by Mamoru. They kind of pinged each other and Mamoru asked if they had ever met before. That strange feeling of familiarity in never really explained in the anime however it is entirely likely that was a veiled reference to the manga in which Nephrite would have been one of the four ‘Shitennou’, Generals who worked with and protected Prince Endymion. If that is the case though, anime version Nephrite never remembers his past.
Nephrite is usually calm and cool headed however he does have a temper. This temper can make its appearance when his plans have been questioned or Zoisite is around… He has a strong rivalry when Zoisite since the other General was constantly trying to undermine his plans and staged the attack that actually killed him. His temper usually only manifests itself as a raised voice or the occasional sulk. He has however on one instance become so angry that he caused a letter to burst into flame in his clenched fist.
Nephrite has an alternate identity that he uses for missions on the Earth. He becomes ‘Maxfield Stanton’ a young, rich, businessman who is unbelievably charming. While playing this role Nephrite never looses his temper, proving that he is entirely capable of controlling that anger of his if he wants to. As ‘Maxfield’ Nephrite uses a softer tone of voice and can be helpful, even flirtatious, with the women he meets. He doesn’t do this because he wants people to fall for him, he does it so they will lower their guard and make it easier for his powers to gather their energy.

Strengths:
Nephrite is a clever General. He figures out that more energy can be gained from one person at their peek than many different people as his predecessor Jadeite was doing. This also takes him a lot less effort as he can curse on object the person cares about and sit back to wait for them to reach their maximum peek of power instead of having to setup a false business and tend it the entire time.
Unlike most of the other Dark Kingdom minions Nephrite actually begins to think for himself. Instead of jumping to perform Queen Beryl’s every order he is actually free thinking enough to make his own choices. He is even wise enough not to return to the Dark Kingdom when Queen Beryl summons him while she is angry. Appearing before her on that occasion surely would have meant his death.
Nephrite is a powerful fighter who really only ends up dying because he lowers his guard when he is having a conversation with Molly. He is shown killing one youma with a single hit and taking on three other youma at one time, only receiving a scratch during battle.

Weaknesses:
Nephrite is very stubborn and full of pride. These traits can make it difficult to accept help even if he needs it. He will never ask for assistance and he will be grudging about accepting it even when it is offered with pure intentions. This can cause him to try to take on situations and people by himself that he really might not be able to handle on his own.
His ego can really get in his way. He often feels he knows better than his allies and is not open to criticism or suggestions. In fact he often reacts to these things by yelling at the person offering the opinion. Nephrite runs the risk of not being open to positive suggestions. This has caused Nephrite to get into trouble with Queen Beryl by rejecting the plan that Zoisite should help him during a mission. Queen Beryl became annoyed at Nephrite’s arrogance.
His temper can also get him into a little bit of trouble. While he can control his anger when he feels he needs to he often forgets to when he isn’t playing the role of ‘Maxfield Stanton’. He did once out himself during a mission by becoming annoyed at Molly when she would not admit to being Sailor Moon. Of course she couldn’t admit to something that wasn’t true but his true nature was revealed before the real Sailor Moon showed up because of his temper.
Molly. He can make the mistake of lowering his guard around her, making him an easy target for his enemies. Nephrite also seems to have developed a recent weakness for a simple ice cream dish called a chocolate parfait. He really would like to try one some time. Maybe even paopu fruit would be interesting.

[ The white furry paw of a moogle glided over the ‘record’ button as the creature was roughly shoved away. ]

Please, kupo! Give me a minute to explain, kupo!

[ The man didn’t listen. He instead used the wall of one of the nearby buildings as a support as he leaned against it to prop himself up and struggle to his feet. ]

It’s too soon to be trying to get up, kupo!

[ Again the red headed man didn’t listen. It had been a warning ignored and even though he found the need to clutch at his chest with a free hand he still stood. This action wasn’t really due to pain, but more of a vague memory of pain. Hadn’t he been stabbed there? Finally he spoke to the moogle, it was a question but also a demand for information. ]

What is this place?

Please, sit back down and I will tell you all about it, kupo~!

Answer me! What is this place!
Traverse To--…

The movement of the stars rules everything…
That is what he always believed. So when the heartless arrived to take his heart, the stars are what he turned to. Drawing out the power of the stars to bring a youma out of their power.
“Orion!”
The youma joyfully proclaimed as it pulled a bow off its back and began launching a magical arrow attack at the swarm of heartless.
Nephrite himself soon realized there were a few too many for even the youma to take on. He considered just teleporting away, leaving the heartless on the world and appearing on some other planet, but if they really were after him wouldn’t they just follow? The heartless were mindless, seeking only hearts and not worrying about how difficult those hearts would be to find. If he ran they would chase. Their reactions were very primal.
He was a General of the Dark Kingdom! He would not run!
Not only were the heartless weak to the arrows of a lower powered youma but they also disappeared when Nephrite’s crystal sword cut through their numbers. Disappeared, but never left entirely. No matter how many heartless he killed more kept appearing to take their place. At this yet he ran the risk of being over run by them.
Nephrite could feel the weight of the communicator in his pocket. It would be easy to pick that device up and call for some assistance. There were any number of pathetic people out there who would be more than willing to help, even some one like him, escape the heartless. But, he wouldn’t do it. He had too much pride. Besides, defeating an enemy like this, even in these kinds of numbers, should be an easy feat for him!
He redoubled his effort, gave the youma new orders, and charged toward the approaching horde of heartless.

Have you read the rules & F.A.Q.s? No, why would I want to waste all of that time reading tha--… ok, yes…
