Daniel Stephen Jackson!
Baby update!
Daniel Stephen Jackson entered the world at 3:19 PM on December 14th, 2006 after Stephanie spent two hours in labor. (As I understand it, she also narrowly avoided having a C-section. Mom has lied to us all these years; we do not, in fact, have good birthing hips. Most of those two hours involved poor baby's head jammed up against her pelvis.) He weighed in at eight pounds eleven ounces--me: "You delivered a horse!"--twenty inches long and thirteen inches around the head, so he will be following in the fine family tradition of having a moose head. And all that despite being three weeks early! The doctor informed Stephanie that had she carried him to term, she would have delivered a toddler. :D
Baby has the most awesome head of red hair ever, and I don't care what Eric or my mother says, it is not the same shade as mine. His is way cooler. :D I got to hold him for a minute before he went to the nursery and he made vaguely grumpy noises at me, much like his parents do when you try to wake them up from sleep.
He's been having some issues with his blood sugar being a little low, and has been doing some things (I don't know what) that he should not still be doing, so he's on antibiotics in case of an infection. The apparent consensus is that he just needs to recover from being born, because the delivery was a little rough. Last I heard they were going to give him some of mom's milk to see how he took it. (I'm stuck at home for the time being because I rode home with Eric last night and I unknowingly locked my keys in my car at the hospital.)
Basically, Daniel is made of WIN AND AWESOME. I am now convinced that the stork is real because there is no way that cute thing was only just inside my sister's stomach. I am absolutely fascinated by him and I could probably stare at him all day, he is that damn cute. I can't believe my shrikey is a mother now. It's weird as hell. :D
