catastrophe keeps us together.

our basement is ruined. it flooded for the first time um, EVER according to our elderly neighbor (his sister in law built and lived in this house for a number of years). carpet is ripped up. we have to rip up particle board and cut the damaged wallboard out of the wall. the bottom cupboards in the lineoleom part of the basement are no good. we don't know if our boiler is okay--we haven't had the heat on in days, thankfully it's been warm out. there is still water coming in. we just want it to stop so we can start cleaning and getting things in order. we're still pumping water out. we have two pool cover pumps and a half horse power sump pump, but with no sump to put it in, we can only run it for 15 minutes every couple of hours. it started on tuesday morning and you'd think the water would at least be done coming in. it's slowed to a quarter inch an hour. it could be worse. a girl I went to junior high school with reported on facebook that her house was condemned. !!!!

the bridge down elmwood ave is still closed. we walked over there yesterday and there was a diesel spill, so that's all you could smell. and that water is going out into the bay. also, the sewage treatment plant is underwater and the sewage is going right into the river and then into the bay.

just because that's not bad enough, this is my work:

or at least that was it a couple days ago. I have to work at a different store for awhile while they can hopefully salvage the store. I was on vacation this week so it wasn't a big deal. but I called today and I have personal days for monday and tuesday and wednesday off. they're trying to find me something for thursday, friday and saturday. annnd my favorite mall is closed. ugh.

the FEMA inspector is coming today. hopefully that means we'll get something sooner rather than later. we're going to tile the basement just in case something like this happens again, at least the floor won't be ruined.

on a bright note, Lilly and Ruby are getting along pretty well. we brought ruby to my parents' house last night and they played for at least two hours straight. also EASTER! COLORING EGGS! ITALIAN RICOTTA CHOCOLATE CHEESE PIE! COUSINS!

weather, work, seriouslyyy, miserable, personal injury, home improvement, vacation, omg, pictures
