It's been a very long time since Harry's been out on a date. Even when he and Susan were dating they didn't really... date a lot. Their respective careers didn't allow for it. But now, here he is, in a coffee shop, with an attractive young blonde woman. Attempting to remember how to make small talk ( Read more... )

Claire hadn't been out on a date with anyone really that she could remember. Her life hadn't been exactly normal to do that. She found herself on a date with an attractive older man and she liked that.

"Eh...just plain coffee. None of the other interests me." She said with a shrug not that she had tried any of them.

Harry's life had always been pretty... interesting. Interesting was a good word for it. Crazy was another.

"Works for me. I've never understood why people put all that extra crap in coffee. It's coffee. Don't mess with a good thing." That, and he's broke, and usually doesn't go into coffee shops that much.

He orders two plain coffees and winces as the computerized cash register blips in the middle of the transaction. "Keep the change," he mutters sheepishly, tossing a bill onto the counter, grabbing the coffees, and picking a corner table, far far away from the expensive equipment.

"So, Claire. Do you... do this sort of thing often?"

She watched not understanding what was going on with him and the cash register. She didn't know what was going on. she just let him do all the talking and followed him.

"Do what? Pick up older guys I don't know and have them take me out on a date? No I must say this is my first time." She said wondering if that's what he meant.

That gets a laugh, and he nods, sipping at his coffee. "Um, yeah, I guess. I'm going to go ahead an apologize ahead of time for the fact that I'm a really horribly awkward guy. And -- lame. So if you can't stand bad jokes, we should probably end this here and now."

A grin slowly comes across her face and she starts laughing. "Oh that's alright I don't think your lame. I'm bad at jokes also. So..." she said as she took a sip of her coffee. "Okay, favorite color, food, and movie." She said trying to get a conversation started.

Harry laughs, wrapping his hands around his mug and feeling a little more at ease. "Okay, let's see. Um -- colour... blue? No idea why. Food would be anything from this great place called Mac's. Mostly in the meat category. And movie... well I don't see movies a lot, but I saw a pirate one that wasn't too bad not long ago? Your turn: colour, food, and movie."

Typist: Apologies, school and life got crazy for a while there.

"Pirates of the Caribbean?" Claire asked as she sipped on her coffee as she thought. "I like the color blue, not copying you. Food, fettuccine alfredo doesn't matter the meat. Movie that's hard cause I have a lot, but if I'd have to go with one it would be oh I don't one of the Disney ones with princesses. I loved the princesses growing up. I can't narrow it down sorry." She said blushing a little.

OOC: Its okay I understand how that gets!

"Yeah, that's the one! Sorry, I'm behind on my geekiness, I need to catch up. Have you heard of this Harry Potter kid? I hear he's pretty popular." It's hard to tell if he's joking or serious -- though with Harry, he's probably joking.

"Oh -- wow, it's been forever since I've seen a Disney movie." Probably since they came out in theatres. God he feels old. "Did you ever see Sword in the Stone? I know it doesn't have princesses, but it's fun. I like the way they did Merlin." Though the magic was mostly crap, but it's Disney, what can you do.

"Geekiness?" She asked then laughed at him. "That's cute." She said with a grin. "Yeah I read all his books. He's okay though." She said with a shrug.

"Disney is usually good." She said taking a sip of her coffee. "Yes I've seen that one its been a while though. I liked Madam Mim. I'm not sure why." She said with a smirk. "Come on its magic, Disney has to make it wholesome."

Harry wants very badly to launch into some schpeal about how magic isn't wholesome in the first place, but he manages to bite his tongue. For now.

"Would you believe me if I said I knew a thing or two about magic?"

Typist: Maybe someday I'll stop failing life :(

"These days I'd believe anything." She said leaning in looking around then whispering. "Can you believe my body can regenerate, faster then others?" She asked wondering if he'd believe that.

She played with the straw in her coffee swirling it around.

ooc: Its okay I know your busy try having a 6month old that gets into everything!
