so, I realize that I haven't had a genuine update in quite a while so I'll give it a go. life's been alright, kind of slow, being summer and all...but it's been a nice slow. just hopefully I'll do more things next week, I avoided going out much this week while my grama was here cause she doesn't really like us going out too much. however I spent a good deal of time reading The Da Vinci Code, which was a really fascinating book for me... I love art and religion and conspiracy theories so I just guzzled that stuff up. haha, guzzled? I don't know where I get these words sometimes...
anyways, going back to graduation, a little over 2 weeks ago now.... it was emotional, but more than anything it was a relief. I guess I've been anticipating getting out of high school for a very long time...and although there are people I will certainly miss, and activities such as band and journalism (for the most part) that I will miss also... it was time to move on. overall, I had a pretty great high school experience. I really can't see how it could have been better. but still, I feel like the best is yet to come. I'm really looking forward to studying at Pomona College...sometimes I debate in my mind whether I should have chosen to go to UCLA, but I always come up with the same conclusion: Pomona is more of my kind of place. I can't wait, but I hope that I'm not disappointed..cause my expectations are high. I guess that's the downfall of optimism, it makes you vulnerable to disappointment. nonetheless, it's exciting to think about. scary, but exciting.
so...what stands out about my summer so far? well, fish tacos are the best (really!), I continue on the quest for good fish tacos throughout the L.A. area, haha... plenty of tacos to still be had this summer. the rocket summer concert last wednesday was a definite highlight so far.. haha, I got 12 people I know to go (13 total with edwin's friend daisy), that was really cool (edwin natt lisa harry kristy evan rick andy ben cory cassie victor). the concert overall was amazing...kevin devine, the first act up, was..interesting. rick seemed to get a kick out of him, anyways, haha. number one fan were pretty cool, good amount of energy. the plain white t's were ridiculously awesome, haha..the guitar player was strikingly good looking, not to mention he was right in front of us (and lisa proceeded to "fall in love" with him, haha)..the singer was cool, his dancing made me laugh..and they were just overall really good, I bought the cd. good stuff.
now the rocket summer... I was in awe, once again..it was even more amazing than last time. the crowd was better, EVERYONE was singing along, it felt like we were a big family or something, haha. he has sooo much energy, it's crazy. PLUS he did a cover of "mint car" from the cure (SUCH a cute song)..AND he sang us one of his new songs..it was wonderful, of course, I can't wait to hear his other new stuff. a bunch of us talked to him for quite a while afterwards..and wow, that bryce avary.. such an awesome awesome guy. seriously. can't wait till the next time he's in town. afterwards we all went to denny's, well minus evanharrykristydaisy, but it was still a large group, and a lot of fun, haha, we were all kinda tired/hyper. it felt like my birthday, since I knew everyone, haha.
goodness, I have more to talk about but this will be all for now or it'll probably be so long that no one will read it, haha. but I'll try to update a lot more (not as much as I did last summer though, haha) so yeah.. stay tuned! :)
