Says my mom, and I believe her, thus the feeling of inadequacy.

Hm, we seem to be in the same boat. Because I feel that IU isn't really a "name school" like Curtis.

But.

I've thought a LOT about this, and it doesn't really matter where you go. It matters what you put into it. I mean yeah, it'd be nice to go to Harvard or something like that, but it's also just a name. You can get just as good as an education at Wayne and also be just as successful as someone who went to UM.

Plus, you can always transfer to UM next year or go to a school you'd like to go to as a graduate student.

I know exactly what you mean I think I just needed to hear it again. Mainly I feel this way because my mom just came back from New Jeresy from visiting her sister and some friends and all their children either go to really good public universities or Ivy League schools. So, she came back talking about them and how I was like.. oh.. ok.. um.. right. On a good day I pretty much like my school I just feel like my mom really wants me to go somewhere else. She basically told me that "I am proud of you but, I wish I could be more proud". Ugh, I hate life/family sometimes. It's ok and what you said is exactly 100 percent true. I need to stop being so hard on myself and give in to the stupid materialistic stigma of the NAME of instutitions.

I know, doesn't that suck with college? Yeah, I admit I got caught up in the name thing and wanting to go to a name school, but thinking about it it doesn't really matter. And I wish more people would realize that, but unfortunately not a lot do. Especially parents. And, I'm sorry to be mean but that is an extremely bitchy thing to say, especially coming from your mom. There's no use comparing your child to other people's children, it doesn't affect them and it won't help in any way either.

Also, (here's my little rant now) since I have been thinking so much about this name thing and having a lot of friends who are too, I just wish that people would get the bigger picture and realize that we are all incredibly lucky to go to college and continuing education. It's kind of like, guys..can't we just be happy?
