you know what,
it scare me how big of a phenomena the book twilight has become.
with its own movie having just begun filming. [yay for ROBERT PATTINSON!]
yes, i have read the books. yes, i enjoyed them. yes, vampires are cool [buffy!] and yes, i would love an edward cullen by my side. but, the books weren't really all that great. it was an excellent form of escapism where i imagine myself as bella and edward as mr. sturridge, naturally because tom has been my ultimate fantasy for 4 yrs now [odd but, i was literally breathless after his 2 mins at the end of vanity fair]. however, when i really thoguht about it, do i want actually want to be bella? an average sort of girl who happens to have no goals or dreams other than to spend eternity with a very good-looking vampire at the cost of her friends and most importantly her family [which includes a mother whose been like a best friend to her]? And unfortunately, this vampire is nothing really BESIDES being so physically attractive [easy on the eyes, and has a great smell too], well that is really you read about his super-strength, agility, velvet voice, and mesmerizing eyes. its just nice believe that a normal girl w/ not the highest self-esteem can really find someone who makes her feel like she is worth something [despite the fact she already is, but just doesn't know it]. and twilight just happens to be a horrible example of this.
hmm, and what i think to be just as bad is how tom sturridge is still being casted by twilight fans as edward in the movie. i really love tom's choice of parts in films [yes, i've seen them all & actually enjoyed all of them], and twilight just didn't seem a good fit.
and besides a gorgeous actor has been cast, isn't that all that really matters? and as a nice bonus point, robert is a good actor too.
