I'm in the third trimester, hooooooly crap. I'm due next month and I'm so not prepared mentally for what's going to happen. Having a baby is going to be a big adjustment, and moving is going to be one as well. My boyfriend and I applied for a mortgage pre-approval, looked at some houses, and put a bid on one. The offer was accepted and we had a structural engineer check everything out. The house is in terrible condition, so we're not going to buy it. We're going to continue looking until we find a place we like that doesn't have major structural defects.
At my last OB appointment, I had a quick 3D scan done. It was really cool to see his face!
I had to take take the three hour glucose test to check for gestational diabetes at 28 weeks. I don't have gestational diabetes, but I bottomed out in the last hour and my reading was 37 mg/dl, so the doctor said I'm hypoglycemic. No biggie. It won't affect the baby at all.
I also have SPD - symphysis pubis dysfunction. It should disappear after the baby is born, so I'm willing to put up with it for the remainder of the pregnancy, though I had to give up bike riding. My back also hurts pretty much all the time, sometimes it is hard to get comfortable, but I can put up with it. I don't have that much longer to go.
Also, my baby shower is this coming Sunday. I'm really excited about it. I wasn't initially, because I feel like baby showers are a ploy to get presents, but my boyfriend's sister is very excited about becoming an aunt and she really wanted to throw a shower, so I agreed to having one. I also thought about the fact that house buying is going to eat up a lot of money (that's a given, and we're prepared for it). Down payment, inspections, paying closing costs, furniture, converting any oil heated house to gas (where we are looking, all the houses use oil, which is expensive), and so on. So I guess anything I end up getting for the baby as a gift will be a huge help.
It's going to be catered (Italian, my favorite) and feature a candy bar. Should be entertaining.
I'm sorry I have been a terrible LJ friend. I DO read all of your entries. But, the last trimester has proven very challenging and most of my spare time has been eaten up by house stuff. And if it's not the house, it's managing to take care of my bunnies through all the aches and pains and doing everyday things like laundry, grocery shopping, and so on.
Oh, and both my mom and my boyfriend's dad were in the hospital at the same time. THAT was fun.
My boyfriend's dad was short of breath and then went into some kind of arrest and had to be revived. I don't know if it was respiratory or cardiac arrest. But the paramedics said he died for two minutes. The doctors weren't able to figure out the problem. He is home and doing well now and he has to eat a low salt, low fat, diabetic diet, as well as lose some weight.
My mom was short of breath and was diagnosed with COPD from smoking. She stopped buying cigarettes but bums them off other people, like my sister, or she'll ask strangers for some. She has to see a pulmonologist and cardiologist once her health insurance kicks in. I think she is very dumb for continuing to smoke, but it's her life and she can do what she wants. At least when she does smoke, it's outside.
