I had my first OB appointment. It consisted of a physical exam (listening to lungs and heart), blood pressure and weight check, a pelvic exam, a glucose and protein dip test, and going over my medications and illnesses.
After my exam, I asked the doctor if there's any way the pregnancy tests were wrong and he said no. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't wasting the OB's time. He is going to send me to a high risk ob/gyn because of my health issues to go over everything and I have the first ultrasound in three weeks. My other doctor may want to see me more often, too so I am going to tell him soon.
I told the OB doc I've been getting nauseous at night and because I'm prone to getting dehydrated, he prescribed me something. But, my insurance didn't cover it and it was $365 for 60 pills so the doc said in that case, to take some B6 and Unisom for nausea and it'll do the trick.
He gave me samples of prenatals and holy crap, the pills are huge. One is an iron pill and the other has everything else a baby needs to develop.
I told the doctor I know that I can't take Lisinopril anymore and he said that it can cause kidney damage in babies, which is why there's a label with a warning on the bottle and I am going to get switched to something else hopefully. That's the only medication I have to change, thankfully. I told him as soon as I got a positive test, I stopped the medication.
I can't believe this is real! I am excited and pretty ok with it. My boyfriends seems ok with my decision now. I think the shock has worn off.
Hopefully everything goes smoothly. Week 6 begins tomorrow.
I've only told my parents and my sister so far, plus
paperwiings and one of my other friends. (And of course, you guys!)
I'll announce something on Facebook once I've hit the twelve week mark, just in case it doesn't pan out.
Oh, and I am pretty much minimizing spending from here on out. Not that I was really spending a lot before, but I am going to pretty much pinch pennies with the exception of Snowy's spay. That has to happen soon.
Also:
I don't think I've posted this pic. The bunnies are doing well. I've upgraded Snowy from a cage to an x-pen similar to Dr. P and Penny's. She has room to run around if she's not hanging out with me, so that's really good for her.
The rabbits have taken a liking to ripping up cardboard which is good, because it stops them from ripping up the carpet. They've destroyed their cardboard playhouse. I am going to rip it up and give it to them to chew on.
