I'm super late this week! eep, sorry. It was a combination of 95% of the episode being about Barney/Robin (making this picspam GINORMOUS!) and a crazy RL.

This is awesome, as usual! I look forward to these so much and I'm glad you do them every week.

Here, I think he's just thinking too much about how he doesn't want to be the guy that anyone turns to for deep emotional conversations, lol. That's kind of the antithesis of everything he wanted to be.
This makes a lot of sense. It felt a little off to me when I first watched it, because like you said, he did a really good job of comforting her in "Sandcastles" but I definitely think you're right and he's just worried about turning into "that guy" who's the stereotypical boyfriend.

I don't think he really needs to "change" who he is. I think he just needs to stop trying so hard both to NOT be a stereotypical boyfriend and now to BE a stereotypical boyfriend. They can work out their own thing if he stops thinking about expectations.
This! There is totally a happy medium, they just need to find it. And, they need to actually communicate better with each other - all of this probably would've been avoided if Robin had just told Barney that the stuff he was doing/not doing was bothering her, and how to fix it. Of course, that would be way too easy, lol.

Again, I think Robin really does love Barney (and has for awhile) but it'd be hard to not constantly think, "Am I kidding myself?"
Yeah, I definitely understand why she has doubts. Plus, even though we know how in love Barney is with Robin, I don't know if she really gets how invested he is, which just fuels her insecurities.

And yeah, I love Ted and Robin's friendship, and I do think he knows her pretty well, but I don't think Barney should be trying to follow Ted's example or anything. Ted and Robin had plenty of differences and issues that never came to light because they avoided talking about them. It's not like they had an ideal relationship that was ruined solely because of the marriage/kids thing. They just have very different personalities and outlooks on life.

Barney's face on the steps was so cute, I could barely stand it. Also, the hand holding!

I think in a lot of ways Barney just doesn't want to be Ted. lol which can be confusing since he actually took lessons from him, but I think he just loves Robin that much that he'd do almost anything.

Yea, Ted and Robin are just very different people. I mean, sometimes opposites attract and all that, but I think you definitely need someone who at least wants similar things or you're going to run into problems.

The whole last part was so adorable, I loved it!
