Actually that post was not directed to UNT people only--it's fair game so no worries. I like hearing a variety of feedback.

I wrote the professor and the art office an email asking them to put me in it, although I need to see if they'll do it at this point since school starts next week. I appreciate the suggestion of dropping the art history course, but I actually really like art history. Plus I already bought the books. Reading and writing have never been something I've hated. I know a lot of artists in the MFA program that hate the fact that we're required to take 3 art histories. In my opinion, I'm surprised that we don't have to take more. 3 seems so little. I already did my 3 but, like I mentioned, I think I can do a minor in it if I take at least this class. I have to look up the information on that.

Part of my anxiety about this semester stems from taking 2 photo studios because I'm also teaching two classes which are different from each other: drawing and photo. This is the first time I will have taught both at the same time, which means two separate lectures, two separate meetings, two separate loads of work to grade. So that on top of developing two bodies of work was really freaking me out... especially since I would have liked to have shot more this summer than I did. I'm going to do some more over the next couple of days and I have some film I need to develop that will turn into a small artist book project too, so hopefully I'll at least be OK for the studio class I plan on keeping in my schedule.

I have seen the movie Frida a while ago and remembered liking it, but I'm sure I'll have to watch it again this semester.

i actually have nothing against the art history class. i have a degree in art history myself. i just thought it would be the easiest way to free up the time you might need for your studio classes. plus, you can teach yourself anything you might learn in a survey class; you can't create the one-on-one situation with an artist in a studio class. but, it's your decision. i'm just glad you're going to get your feet wet on the web. i'll look forward to seeing a wonderfully 'blad illustrated web site!

i was serious about mexico, btw. you won't ever appreciate rivera fully until you've gone down there and seen his work first hand. plus, it's a great drive, lots to see on the way.

good luck with your semester!
