EMail notification "fixed" ... about time ... (GeekByDay)

Right.

So it appears that they may have finally sorted out the email notification thingy.

I'll go off on a bit of a rant at the LJ folks here, having managed the deployment of a large scale project.

IP's got added to popular Spam block lists ? WTF, this isn't rocket science folks, you need to sort these things out *first* before moving.

And there should be a test plan that confirms things work *before* you go home ....

It's taken weeks to notice that a database is filling up with likely hundreds of thousands of unsent messages ? Me thinks you need a shell script to replace your DBA ... good ones *freak* when their daily stats jump by numbers like that ...

It's the little things that *always* bite you in the behind if you don't know what you don't know ... First step to getting a clue ? Admit that you don't know what you don't know ... everything gets better from there. Next go and find out what you don't know, that will lead you to what you don't know you don't know.

Got that ?

Okay, I'm done. It's not likely the LJ people will read this, but just in case, I'm sure there's more to the story then I know about, but the communication hasn't been all that great to a techy crowd ... not a good thing ...

Peace, out. Hopefully we're back to "normal" for the notifications ;-)
