[Turns off the lights]

Mar 29, 2008 19:52

Earth Hour tonight, for those in Toronto, turn out your lights at 8pm EST5EDT if you have a second!

Yes, a 'stunt' if you will, but an important step to fostering community and awareness about global issues

:-)

From High Park, Enjoying the sunset over the park :-)

ok, we turned out the lights one evening. No computers, no TV (because something blew a fuse and the entire house shorted). But we burned candles instead. Isn't that just as bad? Fossil fuels, CO2 emissions = global warming?

Ja, agree, there isn't a perfect solution, and there are some folks who have ... radical at best description, insane at worst description ... ideas about what should be done ...

I don't agree with that, I think there's a middle ground that still lets us have light, and computers and TV but have a smaller carbon footprint

Perhaps a good analogy would be the introduction of japanese cars into the North American market ? Newer, more efficent tech will replace out-dated, energy guzzling tech ...

Tho I still think that raising awareness is a good end game as a start to effecting change, if people are informed/aware, they can't make changes
