Inuyasha

-Father was an inuyoukai (dog demon), mother was a human
-Half-brother to the pure demon Sesshoumaru
-As a hanyou, he changes into a human on the first night of the new moon, losing his youkai abilities (enhanced speed, strength, and senses)
-Uses the magical sword Tetsaiga (steel fang) made out of one of his father's fangs.
-Was in love with Kikyou, a miko (priestess) who protected the Shikon no Tama (Jewel of Four Souls), but was led to think that she betrayed him.
-Was sealed to a tree for fifty years by Kikyou, who later died, falsely thinking that he had caused her death.
-Released by Kagome, Kikyou's reincarnation, who is from the modern era.
-The Shikon no Tama broken into pieces, he must resentfully team up with Kagome to find them.
-They are joined by a hentai houshi (perverted monk) Miroku, taijya (demon slayer) Sango, and young kitsune (fox demon) Shippou.
-Naturally hot-headed, he claims that his only reason for wanting the Shikon no Tama is to be able to turn himself into a full demon.
-Is slowly realizing that, due to his growing feelings for Kagome, perhaps he would be better off embracing his human side.
Sesshoumaru
- Full Inuyoukai (dog demon)
- Older half-brother of Inuyasha
- Cold hearted and emotionless, he craves power.
- His father left him the Tenseiga (heavenly life fang), which is a sword with the power to revive life.
- Had his left arm ripped off in a gruesome fight with Inuyasha.
- Has a loyal servant, Jaken, who is a kaeru youkai (toad demon).
- Weakened, a mute human child, Rin, found him in the forest and tended to his wounds.
- Rin was killed by ookami youkai (wolf demons), but he restored her life.
- Is now accompanied by Jaken, a now-verbal Rin, and the flying horse demon Aun.
- Though cold, he shows his compassionate side to Rin and, on occassion, other small children.
- Disgusted by the way Inuyasha's humanity is a taint to their father's bloodline, he strives to kill him.
- Is after Naraku, the demon possessing many of the Shikon shards, only because he had had to audacity to kidnap Rin.
