Having Fun with Insomnia in October

My mom says the same thing, October is a cursed month. But I see it differently. First, October is a month of changing seasons, especially in California. This makes people more susceptible to getting sick or injured, and also is the reason school starts around late September/October, meaning that our generation perceives it as a time for change, and sometimes that is a time for loneliness and fear.

Anyway some of your comments don't really sound like they are times of sickness or pain or catastrophe, you just sound like you're cataloging a feeling of the time.

For my family... in 1987 I was in a major accident on halloween and spend two weeks in the hospital, two years getting treated medically. 1998 I developed Asthma when moving to Santa Cruz. 2005 Phoenix and I broke up and my grandmother went through a major surgery. 2006 I moved to Oakland-a good thing. 2007 I started working from home at the end of October, another good thing. 2008 My grandmother's back in the hospital, my dad's in surgery and my mother says "October is cursed." However, my grandmother's been in and out of the hospital for years now, and we've had family surgeries and difficulties in other months too. So, I don't believe October's cursed.

This was a little misleading... I was simply commenting that I've heard the idea expressed that October is cursed. That philosophy isn't actually really born out in my own life.

Sometimes, it does seem like there are a disproportionate number of bad things that happen in October, but all in all, I usually like the autumn season.
