Happy for the weekend! Only plan involving work is to re-read my EKG book so I don't look entirely stupid on Monday when I start Cardiology. More exciting is the plan to see Pirates 3 on Sunday!
Also, I finally got around to acquiring and watching the finales for Heroes and CSI, which were "meh" and "agggh!!" respectively.
First, the CSI one was all kinds of awesome. We finally got to see who the minature killer was, and the actress they hired was phenominal at being creepy. And ooh, wicked wicked cliffhanger. I can't wait to see how they're going to save Sara.
Heroes, on the other hand, was kind of anti-climactic. Series kinda started with a bang and ended with a bang that really was a whimper. On the bright side, it's the mildest cliffhanger they've ever done so I actually no longer have the urge to keep watching.
The most disappointing thing was that they hyped the Peter-the-bomb thing so much, and then the way NYC was saved in the end was by loooove. Which I guess I would have been more ok with if not for the fact that for one reason or another I was never sold on the Nathan-Peter relationship to start. I mean, Nathan is usually pretty cold to Peter, but we get these random interspersed moments of closeness. It was bizarre to watch. And even in those times of closeness, the connection doesn't seem to come across on the screen. Maybe it's the way the actor approached it, because I do think that Peter's affection for his brother was more tangible. Or then again, maybe my perspective is skewed by the way the brother relationship works on Supernatural, with no overt "I love you" statements but you feel the connection. Really, I think the Heroes vs. Supernatural comparison of the brothers shows why chemistry between actors is so important.
And they aired Wing Commander on TV tonight. Ahahahaa... oh how I love crappy scifi. I mean, there were sooo many scenes of eye-rolling dialogue. Really, I think you had to have played the series of video games to enjoy that movie. But credit to them for maintaining the atmosphere of the game. The HUD display in the cockpit made me smile, made me nostalgic about playing WC4 and Prophecy. And landing ships on the TCS Tiger Claw and Concordia totally brought me flashbacks of why I never finished WC2 - because I could never land the damned ships and resorted to ejecting all the time just to finish the missions. And then when you did that one too many times, they kicked you out and it was game-over. Oh, those were the days...
Yea I know, I'm such a geek ;)
