I'm going to force myself to nutshell my thoughts and life events more often. Yay!
- I am sick(!), which is throwing me off my game in general, lol. This is the longest I've been sick (over a week) and the "sickest" I've been in a long, long time, but really, since my sicknesses are generally very mild, "very sick" for me is not that bad at all. ;)
- I'm really looking forward to my classes this quarter.
I am taking ANTH 103 (the third of the core anthro classes; this one is sociocultural anthropology, which is also my major), ANSC 121 (psychological anthropology), PSYC 60 (statistics for the social sciences), and HILD 7C (a GE course about the history of Latin Americans and Chicanos in the United States).
My ANTH 103 professor is hilarious and well-spoken. My ANSC 121 professor is awkwardly endearing. (Let's just hope there's not too much Freudian theory in this class. Ugh. I am not a fan of psychology.) My PSYC 60 professor is really young (he wants us to call him by his first name, Julian!), and the class seems very doable. The lectures are very clear and straightforward. And even though I haven't taken a lower-division course for a while, I actually really like HILD 7C. History deals with many of the same issues as anthropology, and I like examining issues with a historical lens in addition to my anthropological lens. - I am starting a singing blog! I am SUPER excited. I've been on an organizing spree this first week of the quarter, and I realized that I would love to have a place just to discuss my thoughts on singing. And since singing encapsulates everything in my life(!), I'll probably end up sharing some of the day-to-day happenings in my life as well.
- I'm also going to start a literary blog for my prose fiction pieces. That begs the question: what is going to happen to this blog? I realized that the type of writing that has come to characterize this blog isn't the type of writing I'm most interested in at present, and between the singing blog and the literary blog, I'll probably be mostly "writer-ed out" (totally not a word, I know, but you get the idea). I don't want to abandon this blog, however, because it holds so much sentimental value to me. So the compromise I'm making is...
- The posts here will be probably be more of the "soundbite" variety, rather than the essay-type posts I used to make. Basically, any thoughts or any life updates that don't get adequately expressed through the other two blogs will end up here. Let's see how well this works...
- And final thought: Cal Newport and Chris Guillebeau are AWESOME. :) That is all.
As always, I have way more to say, but I'll end here since I need to get a move on my homework. =P Until next time! *waves*
