The Ice Storm it cometh

I can hear that the rain, which fell and froze, has turned to ice and is pelting down outside. One year ago yesterday Northwest Arkansas suffered the worst ice storm in, according to the electric co-op here, at least 30 years and quite possibly 75 years. There was argument about the two storms it was compared to. The damage is still evident as many, including myself, can't afford to repair things that aren't absolutely necessary. We fared quite well and suffered a shit ton of debris and loss of trees but little to our property. We had a dent in the car, which was already quite dented, and a broken exterior window. Both are still dented and broken.

Last year Justin had to work 24 hours straight the first couple of days, then 20 hours a day for several days, then 16 hour days for a few weeks, before finally getting back on 8 hour days. I was coming off of a bad strep virus that had attacked my body rather than my throat. We had a dog that we couldn't stand or control. We had no electric for 8 days despite living in town, which meant no heat, no way to cook, etc.. We found shelter at my grandparent's home after the first 20 hours of being cold.

There is a thump in my heart as I hear the ice hit now outside.
