My New Motto: I've Got Friends in Low Places

Aug 19, 2008 13:02

Blame it all on my roots
I showed up in boots
And ruined your black tie affair
The last one to know
The last one to show
I was the last one
You thought you'd see there
And I saw the surprise
And the fear in his eyes
When I took his glass of champagne
And I toasted you
Said, honey, we may be through
But you'll never hear me complain ( ... )

Hi back! :)

I don't mind you posting at all... as long as you don't mind me incessantly replying to all your comments. ;)

Yeah, I decided that song totally describes my friends. They're not exactly high class people. lol That's a picture of me (on the left) with some of my friends that are often found in "low places." :D I don't care though, they're great people and I love them.

Go right ahead! I adore comments/replies lol.

Lol I find that it really doesn't matter the class of people you have in your life, all that matters is what they have on the inside and how they really are.

I guess thats spoken like a true poor person lol but I haven't really been proven wrong XD

they're great people and I love them
Now...THATS What Matters!

You're the one with the pink bandanna *sp* right?? Its a lovely photo ^_^

It's true, class doesn't really matter, especially because "high class" people can be very snotty and elitist. I went to a high school with very rich people and my friends were never the bratty rich kids because my friends were much more down-to-earth and just better people in general. If I wasn't basically a poor person myself, I might not feel the same way but I am so I know better. :D

Yep, that's me in the pink bandana. :) That's from a camping trip I went on with my friends in August. It was on that trip that we listened to that song and I realized how well it fit my friends so I adopted it as my motto. If you look really close, my friend Dave is actually giving the finger to my friend Katie on the far right. XD They have a complicated, love/hate relationship. :D

It doesn't make sense to me how people can act that way. There are definitely some rich people who are grounded but I guess the stereotypes of the super rich come from the way a lot of them actually act. I will never understand how having a lot of money makes you better than someone else. Does it make them kinder, more generous, more loving people? Usually not, and those are the things that I think are much more important than being able to buy a lot of crap. I'd rather be poor and a good person, than be rich and become a snob. ...Of course, that doesn't stop me from wishing I had more money, sigh, lol ( ... )

It was just astounding to me, because in movies or books, well like the Malfoys are in HP, you think 'well yeah thats the stereotype but all the rich people in real life don't act like that...right ( ... )

I feel like you do. I'm glad I grew up the way I did because money was never the most important thing. I grew up appreciating the people I love and having fun spending time with them. Loving others, appreciating life and having good experiences are what have always mattered more to me than money. If having those values comes from not having much money, than I'd rather not have the money. It's sad that some people do fit the rich snobby stereotype and they don't always appreciate the things that I think are really what's important about life ( ... )
