The alternative would be that the glasses of wine would make you think you can do anything! I recommend finding a happy medium. :-)

I can't help but think of Bruce McGill's character's line near the end of the finale episode of "Quantum Leap," trying to convince Sam (who spent the whole series leaping through time into different people's bodies and situations, trying to set right things that would otherwise go wrong, if you never saw it) that affecting one person at a time wasn't insignificant.

"At the risk of over inflating your ego Sam, you've done more. The lives you've touched, touched others. And those lives, others! You've done a lot of good, Sam Beckett. And you can do a lot more."

As one person in one village for a few days or weeks or months, chances are you are directly affecting a handful of people in measurable ways. But you're never just one person in one village. You're raising awareness, you're spreading the word. You're demonstrating in DC or talking up causes. And you're forming an army... creating a critical mass of people each doing a tiny bit, but together doing enormous good. So, thank you. :-)
