SIXTH ANNUAL RUN TO OZ 5K

The Chesterton-Duneland Kiwanis Club is sponsoring its 6th Annual "Run To Oz" 5K, 5K Walk and Munchkin 1/4 Mile Fun Run, in conjunction with the 24th Annual Wizard of Oz Festival on Saturday, September 17. This is a CRS Gold Cup Series Race

The 5K race, walk and fun run will take place on the grounds of the beautiful Coffee Creek Center Preserve, just off CR-1050N east of the Ind. 49 Bypass in Chesterton, Indiana.

Runners and walkers will follow the Yellow Brick Road along natural surfaces - brick pavers, wood chipped trails, crushed bricks and bridges.

Age groups for the 5k race will be as follows: 0 - 8, 9 - 11, 12 - 14, 15 - 18, 19 - 24, 25 - 29, 30 - 34, 35 - 39, 40 - 44, 45 - 49, 50 - 54, 55 - 59, 60 - 64, 65 - 69, 70 and up.
The maximum age for the Munchkin Fun Run will be 10 years old.

Registration will take place from 7 to 7:50 a.m. The Fun Run starts at 8:00 a.m. The 5K Run & Walk begin at 8:15 a.m. The pre-race registration fee is $15 by Sept. 3rd. Race t-shirts are guaranteed with pre-registration. Registration Fee is $18.00 race day for the 5K Run and Walk. For the Munchkin 1/4 Mile Fun Run, pre-race registration is $12 by Sept 3rd and race t-shirts are guaranteed with pre-registration.
Race day registration is $15.

Unique awards will be presented for the top overall male and female 5K runner and the top three in each age group, along with an award for the Masters Division. After Race refreshments will be served.

All race activities will be finished in time for the OZ Fantasy Parade and other Oz Festival activities in the downtown area.

Participation in the "Run to Oz" 5K this year will help the Chesterton-Duneland Kiwanis Club support various local, statewide and national projects. Among the programs supported by the Chesterton-Duneland Kiwanis Club are the Westchester Neighbors Food Pantry, Westchester Public Library's Baby TALK, Rebuilding Together-Duneland, Inc. In addition, the club sponsors scholarships for Chesterton High School students and supports local programs of the police and fire departments.
