Boots have got to be the most ingenious invention known to female pop stars (and their managers, we must not forget the managers).
But before we talk about books specifically, I suppose we should talk about heels, because heels are actually the most ingenious invention known to females.
To talk about heels, we must first talk about legs. Legs are a very crucial appendage, mostly because they are the main source of transportation to the majority of humankind, which includes, but is not limited, to women. Somewhere along the line, legs became not only a main source of transportation, but also a source of sexual appeal.
Legs established, we may now talk about heels. Heels were no doubt developed by men wanting to restrict a woman's place to the home, making it hard for them to travel effectively. As they also served to elongate a woman's legs, no doubt it was in men's self-serving interests to produce them, effectively crippling women while allowing for them to provide an excellent source of sex appeal.
But that is a story all on it's own. Of course, somewhere along history, women learned how to walk (and run) in heels, and used this sexual appeal to their own advantage.
As for today, we are talking about boots.
It may not be obvious, but while women learned how to walk in heels, dancing was a slightly different matter. Dancing required, suffice to say, more fancy footwork than merely lifting one's legs and easing forward (or backward) at varying speeds. Therefore, the female pop star was temporarily limited to merely sneakers, which did very little for sexual appeal but allowed for complicated footwork very well.
However, somewhere along the line, a female pop star decided that sexy was far more important than being able to dance well. That decision spawned the ballads that became popular. Ballads were an excellent way for looking sexy while not having to move much. However, because a great deal of female pop stars simply could not sing, yet did not have the same level of sex appeal in sneakers as heels, a great deal of female pop stars were very upset, and decided to devise a method to look both sexy and dance at the same time.
Thus spawned heels that attached at the ankle. However, those are a story for another time. Our focus today is, of course, on boots. Suffice to say, while these heels were indeed very effective, they also served to essentially separate the elongated aspect of the leg (the foot) from the leg itself. And thus the boot was brought into the female pop star world.
The boot both attached the heel securely onto the foot, allowing for easy movement and effective dancing. At the same time, the fact that boots could continue up the leg and thus lengthen it allowed for excellent appeal.
Female pop stars were ecstatic! Their managers were ecstatic! Everybody was ecstatic, including, but not limited to, the many waters and admirers of pop stars!
Except for one small group of people.
The poor people whose feet just couldn't seem to fit into boots.
