Practical Guide to Healthier Living

As seen on MSN

I like the idea of SMARTer resolutions: You see I'm quitting sodas, I was drinking them like they were water sometimes as much as half a twelve pack a day. So I have quit purchasing them for my home, and have started drinking my crystal light and hot teas and regular cold teas again. So after reading this (the above link) I feel that I have made a SMARTer decision by adopting this method of change..

S = Specific I have made this Specific decision that I wouldn't buy Dr.Pepper to sit in my refrigerator.
M = Measurable I can measure this by the money I save on purchasing Soda's by putting that money into something useful like savings.
A = Attainable This is easily done by just not purchasing them, and since I'm the only person who will know what I am doing I only have myself to blame.
R = Realistic A goal like this is hard pressed to be anything but a Realistic goal, I don't want to drink Cokes anymore at my home.. See Realistic..
T = Timely Well not sure what to think on this one.. but I haven't purchased cokes for my home for 4 days. So there!

Now I think I'm making a SMART decision here, And that this is easy so far.. Last night I knew I had 75 cents and I wanted a coke, but I thought about it and put it away and grabbed some Iced Tea and stopped dwelling on it.. My goal is to not buy cokes to come in to my home.. The realistic side is that I will have a soda again.

I am not going to set myself up for failure by this being an All or nothing thing.. I can have a Coke if I want, but I will restrict myself as to when and where I get them.. See that's not so hard.. So I go out to a resteraunt and I order a Dr.Pepper that's not a failure..

Well gonna join the community at http://www.kashi.com/ and read up on the little things that can be done.
