I love the smell of a clean apartment in the summer (I don't mean clean as in this place reeks the rest of the time, I just mean that slightly chemically fresh scent when you've just gotten really thorough and cleaned the windows and vaccuumed and stuff). It reminds me of living at my parents house and bringing home McDonalds or Murpheys or whatever and eating in front of the TV and not having to worry about anything. I think that sounds like a good way to eat lunch this afternoon - fast food and TV. Once that's done, I'll need to do some work and I think I'm also going to start getting organized for packing today. We want to throw out or give away everything that's not coming with us. I may pick up some boxes and try to get started on the second bedroom, or I might just try to separate and organize first. I don't know.

I think I'm going to get a refund on our room for the cruise :/ I really, really want to be in the top 10% of my class and I think the smartest way to do that is to not skip a week of school ever. I don't pick up information as quickly as Allan - I need to go to class and participate to actually retain the information for tests and stuff. Otherwise I'll only remember it for that one day. I went for two years without seeing Barenaked Ladies play and didn't miss it until I saw them play again and remembered that I like them, so I think I'll be okay missing all the events. I won't be happy at all about missing out on seeing all my friends, but I think I would spend the whole week trying to do my homework, not being able to really focus, and then feeling guilty about being there. So I think it's better for me to get rid of the room this week when I can get most of our money back. I'd wanted to wait until after the first semester to see how I was handling the work load, but I'd hate to lose this money.

I just bought a copy of the 1987 straight-to-video live-action version of Snow White on DVD. That was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid and I haven't been able to see it in years. It's got cute music in it and is pretty faithful to the original fairy tale.

I've been on a serious Phantom of the Opera kick again lately. Weird, because I still hate Sarah Brightman. I've also worked out three times in the past week for about an hour each time. I start on the excercise bike, then lift some weights and do some abs stuff, then use the rowing machine. I feel like it's already helping. I just wanted to tone my arms and abs and hopefully shrink my ass and hips down so that I can fit into my pants again. This is nice because I haven't had to change my eating habits. I like eating. I generally listen to Phantom of the Opera while I work out because it's got a lot of big, epic music in it, but yesterday I listened to the first act of Tommy instead.

Speaking of eating, though, I've been feeling ooky after some meals for the past week and, unfortunately, the common denominator has been cheese. Milk has made me feel sick for a while now, but this is the first time cheese has done it. Cheese and chocolate and ice cream were never problematic, but I've been sick after eating cheese all last week and last night some ice cream made me feel really weird. Boo. Other than it making me feel weird, are there serious health issues involved in eating dairy when you think you might be lactose intolerant? Is there a way for a doctor to check, or is just based on what I say happens to me when I eat?

Pink Martini is playing with the Houston Symphony next year! Neat!
